Your Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Hiking Day
This is a suggested route for travelers who want a real Jade Dragon Snow Mountain hike, not just a cable car photo stop. The timing can be adjusted based on weather, altitude comfort, trail conditions, and your hiking pace.
8:00–8:30 – Lijiang Hotel – Yuhu Village
Your private guide will meet you at your hotel in Lijiang or near Lijiang Ancient Town. Drive to Yuhu Village, a traditional Naxi village at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
8:30–9:00 – Explore Yuhu Naxi Village
Walk through stone lanes, local farms, and old Naxi-style houses. This short cultural stop gives you a more authentic start before entering the mountain hiking route.
9:00–9:50 – Yuhu Lake – Sansi River
Begin your hike around Yuhu Lake and continue uphill toward Sansi River. Depending on the season, the stream may be shallow or stronger after rain, adding a natural adventure feel to the route.
9:50–10:30 – Bahe Meadow
Continue to Bahe, also known locally as “Frog’s Pool”. In the rainy season, it becomes a small pool; in drier months, it turns into a quiet meadow surrounded by rocks and mountain scenery.
10:30–11:30 – Bush Trail – Ganheba Alpine Meadow
Follow a winding trail through bushes, stones, and open slopes to reach Ganheba, a wide alpine meadow below the snow mountain. This is a beautiful place to slow down, rest, and enjoy the highland air.
11:30–13:00 – Milk River Hiking Route
Trek across Ganheba toward the Milk River, named for its milky color created by white limestone. This section offers some of the most unique scenery on the route, with rocks, streams, meadow views, and distant snow peaks.
13:00–14:30 – Snow Mountain Viewpoint – Snow Sea
Hike uphill to a viewpoint for panoramic views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Ganheba Meadow, and the surrounding valley. Continue toward the Snow Sea, where white rocks and sand create an icy appearance. During the rainy season, the area can become a bright blue water body.
14:30–16:00 – Meadow Walk – Return to Lijiang
Walk back down toward the meadow with time for photos and a final rest. Your guide and driver will then transfer you comfortably back to your hotel in Lijiang Ancient Town.
