How Your 8-Day Beijing, Chengdu and Guangzhou Food Journey Unfolds

This 8 day Beijing Chengdu Guangzhou tour is designed as a private food tour and cultural journey through three different cities. From imperial Beijing to spicy Chengdu and refined Guangzhou, the itinerary combines iconic sights, regional Chinese cuisine, local dishes, and authentic food experiences with a flexible tour guide.

Day 1 – Arrival in Beijing

Arrive in Beijing, where your private local guide, driver, and car will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

The rest of the day is free to rest, take a short walk, or ask your guide for local restaurants and simple dinner suggestions near your hotel.

Start at Tiananmen Square, then enter the Forbidden City, one of China’s most important iconic sights and a key place to understand imperial history.

After lunch, visit the Summer Palace, a Qing Dynasty imperial garden with lakes, pavilions, and classic Chinese traditional design.

For dinner, enjoy imperial-style local dishes in a garden-style restaurant, introducing the elegant side of northern Chinese food.

Today’s guided tour takes you to the Mutianyu Great Wall, a scenic and less-crowded section of the Great Wall. Take a cable car up to the Wall, then follow gentle walking routes between watchtowers for mountain views.

After lunch near the Mutianyu section, continue to the Temple of Heaven, where emperors once prayed for good harvests and where locals still practice tai chi.

End the day with Peking duck, one of the most famous Beijing dishes and a highlight of this China food tour.

Begin with a hands-on cooking class in Beijing, where you will learn about ingredients, preparation methods, and home-style Chinese cooking before tasting your own dishes.

Later, travel to Chengdu by high speed train or domestic flights, depending on the final arrangement. Your guide will help with transfers at the airport or train stations.

Chengdu introduces a very different food world: bold Sichuan cuisine, spicy flavors, tea-house life, and lively local streets.

Visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to see the giant panda and learn more about panda conservation in China.

After lunch at a local restaurant, continue to Sanxingdui Museum, where ancient bronze masks and mysterious relics reveal another side of Sichuan’s history and cultural immersion.

For dinner, enjoy classic Sichuan hot pot, one of Chengdu’s most popular cuisine experiences. Your guide can help adjust the spice level and explain how locals enjoy this lively meal.

Explore Jinli Old Street, one of Chengdu’s best places to try snacks, see restored Sichuan-style buildings, and experience local street culture.

Then visit Wuhou Temple, connected with the Three Kingdoms period, before continuing to Guangzhou by flight.

On arrival, your guide will escort you to your hotel. Guangzhou gives the itinerary a southern finish, with fresh Cantonese cuisine, local markets, and a very different rhythm from Beijing and Chengdu.

Visit Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, known for its Guangdong architecture, carvings, and traditional design.

Continue to Qingping Market, where you can see herbs, local ingredients, and everyday Guangzhou market life. This is a good place to understand how local people shop, cook, and eat.

Later, visit Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and enjoy an introduction to Cantonese cuisine, known for freshness, light seasoning, and careful cooking techniques. You may taste dim sum, roast meats, or other local dishes depending on your preferences.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will transfer you to the airport for your return flight to your home country or your next destination.

Your 8 day Beijing Chengdu Guangzhou tour ends with memories of the Forbidden City, Great Wall, giant panda, Sichuan cuisine, Peking duck, and Cantonese flavors.
