Why This Fujian Cultural Journey Feels Different
This tour is not just about seeing famous places. It connects Gulangyu Island, Fujian Tulou, and Wuyi Mountain into one smooth journey — coastal charm, Hakka heritage, tea culture, and mountain scenery.
Feel the Slow Beauty of Gulangyu Island
Walk beyond the busy routes into quiet lanes, gardens, sea-view paths, old villas, and piano-filled corners. Gulangyu Island feels more rewarding when you explore it slowly, not as a rushed photo stop.
Step Inside Living Hakka Earthen Buildings
Visit Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster and Hekeng Tulou to see round and square Hakka earthen buildings up close. Step inside a real tulou home, drink local tea, and understand how these family fortresses still protect centuries of Hakka culture.
Discover the Tea Soul of Wuyi Mountain
Explore Wuyi Mountain, home of Dahongpao tea and rich tea culture. Walk through valleys, cliffs, tea gardens, and ancient paths where mountain scenery and Fujian tea traditions come together.
Drift Through the Nine Bend Stream
Take a bamboo raft along the Nine Bend Stream, surrounded by emerald waters, Danxia cliffs, lush hills, and peaceful river turns. It is one of the most relaxing and scenic moments of the whole tour.
Enjoy Three World Heritage Experiences in One Trip
From Gulangyu Island to Fujian Tulou and Wuyi Mountain, this route gives you a deeper Fujian experience than a standard city tour — more culture, more nature, and a better travel rhythm.
Your 5-Day Fujian Cultural Journey
This thoughtfully paced 5 day Tulou & Wuyi Mountain cultural tour combines the coastal charm of Xiamen, the living heritage of Fujian Tulou, and the breathtaking scenery of Wuyi Mountain. From UNESCO World Heritage sites and Hakka villages to tea culture and bamboo rafting, the route offers a deeper and more relaxing Fujian experience.
Day 1 – Xiamen Arrival
Relaxed Coastal Welcome
Your private guide and driver will meet you at the airport or railway station and transfer you to your hotel in Xiamen city.
The rest of the day is free for you to relax or begin exploring this coastal city at your own pace. You may stroll around Zhongshan Road, enjoy local seafood, or walk along Huandao Road for sea views and fresh air.
Day 2 – Xiamen City & Gulangyu Island
Colonial Charm, Temple Culture & Island Atmosphere
Begin the day at South Putuo Temple, one of the most important Buddhist temples in southern China. Set beneath Wulao Peak, the temple offers a peaceful atmosphere, Tang Dynasty history, and beautiful views of Xiamen University and the harbor.
After lunch, visit Hulishan Fortress, famous for its Ming-Qing military architecture and historic cannons.
Then take the ferry to Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its European-style buildings, gardens, piano culture, and artistic temperament. Walk beyond the most touristy streets to discover quieter lanes, scenic viewpoints, Shuzhuang Garden, and hidden corners with fewer crowds.
Day 3 – Tianluokeng & Hekeng Tulou Clusters
Hakka Earthen Buildings & Authentic Village Life
Travel from Xiamen to Nanjing County to explore the famous Fujian Tulou.
First visit the iconic Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster, one of the most recognizable Tulou sites in China. From the viewing platform, admire the famous layout of four round earthen buildings and one rectangular earthen building, surrounded by green hills and village scenery.
Continue to Hekeng Tulou Cluster, a quieter and more authentic Hakka village often linked with the scenery of Mulan’s hometown. Walk into real earthen buildings, explore upstairs rooms, sip local tea, and learn how Hakka families have lived together inside these communal homes for generations.
After the visit, return to Xiamen for the evening.
Day 4 – High-Speed Train to Wuyi Mountain
Tianyou Peak & Danxia Landscapes
Your guide will escort you to the railway station for the high speed train to Wuyishan City. After arrival, transfer into the Wuyi Mountain Scenic Area.
In the afternoon, hike Tianyou Peak, one of the most famous scenic spots in Mount Wuyi. The stone steps lead to panoramic views of majestic peaks, winding rivers, emerald forests, and the dramatic Danxia landform that makes Wuyi Mountain a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Along the way, your guide will introduce the profound history of Wuyi Palace, Taoist culture, and Fujian’s rich tea traditions.
Day 5 – Nine Bend Stream Bamboo Rafting & Wuyishan Departure
Tea Culture, Hanging Coffins & Scenic River Views
After breakfast, enjoy one of the highlights of the tour — a bamboo raft journey along the famous Nine Bend Stream, also known as Jiuqu Stream or Nine Bend River.
Drift through emerald waters surrounded by towering cliffs, lush greenery, blue skies, and peaceful mountain scenery. Along the riverbanks, you will see ancient stone inscriptions and the mysterious hanging coffins of Wuyi Mountain, suspended high on the cliffs for thousands of years.
After rafting, explore Song Ancient Street and Wuyi Palace, both important sites connected with ancient Fujian culture and the history of tea trading.
Depending on your departure schedule, your guide will escort you to the airport or railway station and assist with your onward journey.
