Day 2 – Beijing | Tian’anmen Square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven
Breakfast & Lunch
Start your Beijing tour at Tian’anmen Square, one of the largest urban squares in the world, before entering the magnificent Forbidden City.
Also known as the Imperial Palace or Palace Museum, the Forbidden City is the world’s largest ancient palatial structure and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It housed 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and remains one of China’s most important historical sites.
Your local guide will lead you beyond the main central axis to explore hidden halls, quiet courtyards and stories of emperors, royal families and court life. This gives you a deeper experience than standard group tours that only follow the busiest route.
Enjoy authentic Peking Duck at a local restaurant, one of Beijing’s must-try dishes.
In the afternoon, visit the Temple of Heaven, where emperors once prayed for good harvests. Its elegant architecture and peaceful parkland offer a beautiful contrast to the grand imperial palace.

Explore the Summer Palace in the morning, one of China’s finest royal gardens. Walk beside Kunming Lake and admire traditional pavilions, bridges and lakeside views once enjoyed by the imperial family.
After lunch, travel to Gubei Water Town at the foot of the Simatai Great Wall. Your private guide will show you around the canals, ancient-style streets, courtyards and traditional Chinese architecture.
In the evening, take a cable car up to Simatai Great Wall. Unlike the more popular Mutianyu Great Wall, Simatai is one of the few sections of the Great Wall of China open for night visits.
Watch the illuminated Great Wall stretch across the mountains while Gubei Water Town glows below. This is one of the most memorable Great Wall experiences on the journey.

Jinshanling is famous for its original Ming Dynasty watchtowers, restored wall sections, fewer crowds and breathtaking mountain scenery. Compared with the busier Great Wall sections, it offers a more peaceful and authentic walking experience.
Take a cable car up to the wall and enjoy time to explore at your own pace, with your guide explaining the history, defense system and architectural features of the Ming Great Wall.
Return to Beijing and board a high-speed bullet train to Xi’an, one of China’s most important ancient capitals and a starting point of the Silk Road.
Upon arrival, your Xi’an local guide and driver will meet you at the railway station and transfer you to your hotel.

Next, visit the world-famous Terracotta Army, also known as the Terracotta Warriors. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in the world and is often called the Eighth Wonder of the World.
With your guide, learn how the terra cotta warriors were made, painted and preserved, and why they were buried to protect China’s First Emperor more than 2,000 years ago.
Then visit a local family at a traditional cave dwelling and enjoy a hands-on workshop to make miniature Terracotta Warriors. This local interaction adds a personal cultural experience beyond normal sightseeing.
In the afternoon, explore Xi’an’s Muslim Quarter, famous for lively street food stalls, local restaurants, Shaanxi snacks and Silk Road heritage. Walk through ancient streets and experience the flavors that make Xi’an one of China’s best food cities.
If time permits, see the Bell Tower and Drum Tower area in the city center. You may also visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, an important Tang Dynasty historical site.

Cruise through Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge, two of the most dramatic sections of the Three Gorges. Admire steep cliffs, misty peaks, narrow valleys and striking river scenery from the deck.
Later, take a smaller boat excursion into Shennv Stream. This peaceful tributary is known for clear water, dramatic cliffs and untouched natural beauty.

Day 9 – Three Gorges Dam and Shanghai by High-Speed Train
Breakfast & Lunch
Disembark in the morning and visit the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydropower project and one of modern China’s greatest engineering achievements.
