APEC 2026 OVERVIEW

APEC 2026 Shenzhen What Visitors Need to Know

Shenzhen will host the main APEC Economic Leaders’ Week program in November 2026. For international visitors, the first step is knowing which dates and travel details are already confirmed — and which operational information may still change before the event.

NOV 14–16 ABAC Fourth Meeting

APEC Business Advisory Council

NOV 17–18 APEC CEO Summit

Business and government representatives

NOV 18–19 Economic Leaders’ Meeting

33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

APEC brings together 21 member economies across the Asia-Pacific. China’s 2026 host year is being held under the theme “Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together”, with three priorities: Openness, Innovation and Cooperation.

Shenzhen is the focal city for the November Economic Leaders’ Week, but the meetings taking place around that period are not one single public event. The Leaders’ Meeting, APEC CEO Summit and ABAC meeting have different participants, access arrangements and schedules.

APEC 2026 also extends well beyond the November program in Shenzhen. Meetings and related activities are being held in multiple Chinese cities throughout China’s APEC host year.

This APEC 2026 Shenzhen visitor guide therefore focuses on the decisions international travelers actually need to make: event access, China entry, transport, accommodation, payments, connectivity and the official information to recheck before departure.

PLANNING RULE Build your trip around confirmed information.

Use official organizer instructions for your final venue, credentials and access arrangements. Until a specific meeting location is formally confirmed, avoid choosing a hotel or transport plan solely around an unofficial venue name appearing in search results.

DATES, SCHEDULE & VENUE

APEC 2026 Shenzhen Dates, Schedule & Venue

The main Shenzhen program builds across several days in mid-November. If your trip is connected with an APEC meeting or business event, plan around the full November 14–19 period rather than the Leaders’ Meeting alone.

CONFIRMED SHENZHEN SCHEDULE

The key November dates

ABAC Fourth Meeting

The fourth meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council takes place in Shenzhen before the main Leaders’ Week program.

APEC CEO Summit 2026

The business summit is scheduled to bring together around 1,000 government and business representatives from APEC economies.

33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

The principal leaders-level meeting of China’s 2026 APEC host year will take place in Shenzhen.

The CEO Summit and Economic Leaders’ Meeting overlap on November 18. Participants may therefore have different venues, credentials and transport arrangements even when their events take place on the same day. The wider Shenzhen Leaders’ Week program is also scheduled to include a joint ministerial meeting of foreign and trade ministers; check the final timing and access arrangements through official channels closer to the event.

VENUE STATUS

Where will the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting be held?

Shenzhen is the confirmed host city. The current official APEC event listing identifies Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China, as the location for the November 18–19 Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

The same event listing does not currently name a specific building. For that reason, this guide does not treat convention-center names appearing in search results or third-party articles as confirmed venues.

If you are attending through a delegation, company, institution or event organizer, use the exact venue address supplied in your official registration or participant information.

BEFORE NOVEMBER Recheck your final venue and route.

Venue access, security arrangements and temporary transport measures may be issued closer to the event. Build your final itinerary around the latest organizer instructions rather than an early assumption.

ATTENDANCE & REGISTRATION

Can Visitors Attend APEC 2026 in Shenzhen?

APEC week includes several different meetings and business events. There is no single public ticket that provides access to every APEC-related activity in Shenzhen.

HOW ACCESS WORKS

Event access depends on which meeting you are attending

The APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting is not presented in the current official event information as a general-public ticketed attraction.

Participants attending through a government delegation, institution, company or accredited organization should follow the credentials, venue and access instructions issued directly by their organizer.

The APEC CEO Summit is different. It has a separate official business participation application process, with applications reviewed before approved participants move on to formal registration and payment.

APEC CEO SUMMIT 2026

Business participation requires an application

The official application channel is operated through the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Submitting an application does not itself confirm attendance.

Application Official channel available
Review Organizer approval required
Enterprise limit Up to 3 applicants
Application deadline TBD

Applicants who pass the organizer’s review receive instructions for formal registration and payment of the registration fee.

ORDINARY VISITORS

You can still visit Shenzhen during APEC week

You do not need to be an APEC participant simply to travel to Shenzhen. Ordinary visitors can plan a normal city trip provided they meet the China entry rules that apply to their passport and itinerary.

What may change closer to the event are local operating conditions around important meeting areas, including security controls, traffic arrangements or temporary access measures.

IMPORTANT DISTINCTION Event approval is not permission to enter China.

APEC registration, CEO Summit approval and China immigration permission are separate matters. Visa, visa-free entry, the APEC Business Travel Card and transit rules are covered in the next section.

CHINA ENTRY & BUSINESS TRAVEL

China Entry, Visa & APEC Business Travel Card

Your APEC invitation or business registration does not automatically determine how you enter China. The correct route depends on your passport, travel purpose and itinerary.

START WITH YOUR PASSPORT

Identify your China entry route before you book

International visitors may travel to Shenzhen under an applicable visa-free policy, with a Chinese visa, by using an eligible APEC Business Travel Card, or through China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy.

These are separate immigration arrangements. The fact that your trip is connected with APEC 2026 does not create a separate APEC visa or automatically exempt you from China’s normal entry rules.

International travel and entry to Shenzhen, China
ENTRY ROUTES

Which option may apply to you?

SHORT-STAY ENTRY

Visa-free entry or a Chinese visa

China currently allows eligible ordinary passport holders from specified countries to enter visa-free for qualifying short stays of up to 30 days.

Covered purposes can include business, tourism, visiting relatives or friends, exchanges and transit. If your nationality, passport, travel purpose or planned stay is not covered by an applicable exemption, obtain the appropriate Chinese visa before departure.

Compare the current options in our China Visa-Free Policy 2026 or see the China Visa Guide 2026 if you may need a visa.

BUSINESS TRAVEL

APEC Business Travel Card

Eligible business travelers may use a valid APEC Business Travel Card when China has granted the required pre-clearance.

Before traveling, confirm that CHN is included among the economies that have approved your card and carry the passport associated with the ABTC.

The card can facilitate immigration processing, but it is not an admission credential for the Economic Leaders’ Meeting, CEO Summit or another APEC event.

VISA-FREE TRANSIT

240-hour visa-free transit

China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy currently covers nationals of 57 countries, subject to the designated entry ports, permitted travel areas and other official conditions.

A central requirement is that the traveler is transiting through China to a third country or region and holds the required confirmed onward travel arrangements.

Do not assume that a simple return trip to Shenzhen qualifies merely because the stay is shorter than 240 hours.

For routing, eligibility and permitted-area details, read our China 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit Guide .

ABTC STATUS Current published China guidance: up to 60 days per entry

China announced in August 2026 that the maximum ABTC stay will be extended from 60 to 90 days, with implementation timing determined separately by each participating economy. Until the China guidance is updated, recheck the applicable limit before departure rather than assuming the 90-day period is already in force.

BEFORE DEPARTURE Recheck the rule that applies to your passport.

Immigration policies can change before November 2026. Once your flights and event participation are confirmed, verify your eligibility again using current Chinese immigration or consular guidance.

GETTING TO SHENZHEN

How to Get to Shenzhen for APEC 2026

International visitors can arrive through Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX), travel by high-speed rail from other Chinese cities, or enter Shenzhen through Hong Kong. The best gateway depends on your flight options, hotel and confirmed meeting location.

Transport connections for arriving in Shenzhen for APEC 2026
ARRIVAL OPTIONS

Three practical ways to arrive

DIRECT TO SHENZHEN

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX)

The most direct air gateway to Shenzhen. Metro Line 11 connects Airport (T3) with Nanshan, Houhai, Chegongmiao and Futian.

VIA HONG KONG

Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)

A useful alternative when international flights to Hong Kong are more convenient. Travelers can continue to Shenzhen by cross-boundary coach, high-speed rail or another Hong Kong–Shenzhen border connection.

FROM MAINLAND CHINA

High-speed rail

Travelers coming from Guangzhou and other mainland cities can use China’s high-speed rail network, with Futian and Shenzhen North among the most useful Shenzhen stations for business trips.

FLYING INTO SZX

Shenzhen Airport to the city

If your itinerary allows a direct flight to Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX), it is usually the simplest arrival point because you begin your onward journey inside Shenzhen.

Metro Line 11 serves Airport (T3) and continues through Bao’an, Nanshan, Houhai, Chegongmiao and Futian. That makes it useful for several common business and hotel areas without requiring a long road transfer across the city.

A taxi or ride-hailing vehicle can still be more practical for late arrivals, substantial luggage or hotels that would require several metro transfers. See Getting Around Shenzhen for local transport planning.

HONG KONG TO SHENZHEN

HKG, West Kowloon & border options

Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is another major gateway to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. From the airport, cross-boundary coach services operate toward Shenzhen through land control points including Shenzhen Bay and Huanggang.

If you are already in central Hong Kong, another useful option is the high-speed rail from Hong Kong West Kowloon. Current services include trains to Futian and Shenzhen North.

Travelers using Hong Kong’s rail network can also consider the Luohu and Futian Checkpoint land crossings. Luohu is convenient when your onward plans are in Luohu or eastern central Shenzhen, while Futian Checkpoint can be practical for destinations in Futian and nearby central business areas.

For itineraries focused on Nanshan or involving Macao, Shekou Cruise Homeport is another cross-boundary option, with passenger ferry services linking Shenzhen with Hong Kong and Macao. Check the current sailing schedule before building a time-sensitive APEC itinerary around a ferry connection.

There is no single best Hong Kong–Shenzhen route. Compare the crossing with your hotel and meeting location: Futian is convenient for many central Shenzhen business itineraries, while Shenzhen North is a major rail hub and Nanshan-side gateways may be more useful for western Shenzhen. Recheck current train, ferry and cross-boundary transport arrangements before departure.

APEC WEEK Compare the full door-to-door journey.

A cheaper or larger airport is not automatically the most convenient choice. Once your hotel and meeting locations are confirmed, compare the complete journey from SZX, HKG or your railway station — including immigration, transfers and the final trip to your accommodation. Then compare the areas in Where to Stay in Shenzhen before locking in your hotel.

WHERE TO STAY

Where to Stay in Shenzhen During APEC Week

Choose your hotel around your confirmed meetings, arrival point and daily transport needs. Until your event organizer provides a final venue address, flexibility is more useful than trying to stay beside an assumed APEC location.

CENTRAL SHENZHEN

Futian

A practical base for central business travel and Hong Kong rail connections.

Futian contains Shenzhen’s central business district and a large concentration of offices, business hotels, shopping and city services. It is also convenient for travelers using Futian Railway Station.

For visitors whose schedule is spread across central Shenzhen, Futian can reduce the need for long cross-city transfers while keeping several metro and rail options within reach.

GOOD FIT FOR

Central business meetings, first-time business visitors and itineraries that include Hong Kong.

WESTERN BUSINESS AREAS

Nanshan & Houhai

Useful for technology-sector meetings and western Shenzhen business itineraries.

Nanshan is one of Shenzhen’s major technology and innovation districts. Houhai, within Nanshan, is a prominent commercial and business area near Shenzhen Bay.

Staying here can make sense when most of your appointments are in Nanshan or other parts of western Shenzhen rather than in the central Futian area.

GOOD FIT FOR

Technology companies, meetings around Houhai and Shenzhen Bay, and west-side business schedules.

AIRPORT & WESTERN SHENZHEN

Bao’an

Consider it when airport access or a confirmed western Shenzhen venue matters most.

Bao’an includes Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport and covers a large part of western Shenzhen. For that reason, the district name alone does not tell you whether a hotel is close to your actual destination.

Check the exact property address and travel time before booking. A Bao’an hotel can be convenient for airport-focused itineraries but much less useful if most meetings are in another part of the city. Review Getting to Shenzhen when comparing airport and hotel locations.

GOOD FIT FOR

Early or late flights, airport-focused travel, or a confirmed event location in western Shenzhen.

OTHER AREAS TO CONSIDER

Luohu and Qianhai can work for specific itineraries

Luohu

Luohu can be practical when your itinerary depends on frequent Hong Kong land crossings or meetings in eastern-central Shenzhen. Luohu Port is one of the city’s major cross-border passenger gateways, so location can matter more than simply choosing the most central-looking hotel on a map.

Consider it when the Luohu crossing or east-side appointments are a recurring part of your trip.

Qianhai

Qianhai is a major Shenzhen–Hong Kong cooperation and modern-services business area in western Shenzhen. It may be useful when your confirmed meetings involve finance, professional services or companies based in the Qianhai area.

Do not choose Qianhai simply because it appears in APEC-related search results; use it when your actual meeting locations make the west-side position useful.

BOOKING DURING APEC WEEK

Prioritize flexibility until your venue is confirmed

If your final meeting address has not yet been issued, choose a flexible or refundable booking rather than committing early to a hotel beside an unofficial venue mentioned online.

Once your organizer confirms the address, compare the full door-to-door journey: hotel to venue, hotel to airport or railway station, and the nearest useful metro connection. Use Getting Around Shenzhen to plan the daily part of that journey.

GETTING AROUND SHENZHEN

Getting Around Shenzhen During APEC Week

Shenzhen Metro is usually the most predictable option for longer journeys across the city, while taxis and ride-hailing services such as DiDi are useful for the final part of a trip, luggage or door-to-door travel.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Shenzhen Metro

For many business visitors, the Shenzhen Metro is the simplest way to cover longer distances without depending entirely on road traffic.

It works especially well when your hotel, railway station and meeting location are close to metro stations. Check the complete route and transfer points before leaving rather than assuming the geographically nearest station always gives the fastest journey.

For overseas visitors, Shenzhen Metro now supports tap-to-ride with eligible contactless overseas bank cards across the network. Supported card networks include UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB, so many travelers can enter and exit through compatible fare gates without first setting up a local transport app. For backup payment options and mobile-wallet preparation, see Payments, SIM Cards & Connectivity .

DOOR TO DOOR

Taxi, DiDi & Ride-Hailing

Taxis and ride-hailing are useful when your venue is away from a convenient metro station, when you are carrying luggage or when a direct car journey is simply easier.

Foreign travelers can use the DiDi-Greater China app, and ride-hailing can also be booked through services inside Alipay and WeChat. The DiDi app supports registration with foreign mobile phone numbers and international credit cards. If you plan to depend on these services, set up your preferred payment and connectivity options before an important journey. Review Payments, SIM Cards & Connectivity before departure.

Keep the full destination address available on your phone. For large hotels, conference complexes or office campuses, confirm the correct entrance or pickup point instead of relying only on the venue name.

PRACTICAL COMBINATION

Metro + Short Taxi or Walk

For many APEC-week journeys, the most practical approach is to use the metro for the longer cross-city section and finish with a short taxi, DiDi trip or walk.

This can reduce your dependence on road traffic while still giving you door-to-door flexibility for hotels, meeting venues and business districts that are not directly beside a metro station.

USEFUL METRO CONNECTION

Line 11 links the airport with key business districts

Metro Line 11 is particularly useful for international visitors because it serves Airport (T3) and continues through Bao’an, Qianhaiwan, Nanshan, Houhai, Chegongmiao and Futian. Those stops connect several areas commonly used for business travel, hotels and meetings. If you are still comparing districts, see Where to Stay in Shenzhen .

ARRIVAL Airport (T3)
CENTRAL SHENZHEN Futian

Check the current Shenzhen Metro map and operating information on the day you travel, especially for late-night or time-sensitive journeys.

DURING APEC WEEK

Leave more time for important journeys

For an important meeting, avoid planning a journey with almost no margin. Security checks, road conditions, venue access procedures or temporary transport measures can add time even when the normal route looks simple.

Do not assume specific November traffic restrictions before they are officially announced. Recheck the route on the day, confirm the correct venue entrance and follow current organizer or local transport notices.

PAYMENTS & CONNECTIVITY

Payments, SIM Cards & Connectivity in Shenzhen

A few digital preparations before departure can make an APEC business trip much easier. Set up a mobile payment option, keep a backup way to pay and decide how you will get reliable mobile data before you arrive in Shenzhen.

EVERYDAY PAYMENTS

Set up mobile payment before you arrive

Mobile payment is widely used for everyday spending in Shenzhen. International visitors can register for Alipay or Weixin Pay (WeChat Pay) and link eligible overseas-issued bank cards for QR-code payments.

Complete any identity or account verification requested by the app and link your preferred card before you urgently need to pay for a meal, transport or everyday purchase. Card eligibility can depend on the payment network and issuing bank, so test the setup before relying on one app for the rest of your trip.

For a more detailed walkthrough of mobile payment, international cards and backup options, see How to Pay in China . If you plan to use payment apps for local transport or ride-hailing, also review Getting Around Shenzhen .

CARDS & CASH

Keep a physical card and some RMB available

Shenzhen has expanded acceptance of overseas-issued bank cards at airports, border checkpoints, hotels, commercial districts and other places commonly used by international visitors.

Since September 2026, all fare gates at every Shenzhen Metro station support tap-and-go payment with eligible contactless cards from UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB. The card must support contactless payment, and the required card settings must be enabled by the issuing bank.

Even with wider card acceptance, keep more than one way to pay. A physical card and a modest amount of RMB cash are useful backups if a payment app, network connection or individual merchant does not work as expected.

MOBILE DATA

SIM card, roaming, eSIM & internet access

Foreign visitors can purchase a mainland Chinese SIM card from major telecom operators using valid identification such as a passport. Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport also has a 24-hour international visitor service center in Terminal 3 near international arrivals, where staff can assist with short-term SIM and other arrival services. See Getting to Shenzhen for more context on arriving through SZX.

International roaming or a travel eSIM may be more convenient if you want mobile data immediately after landing. Support depends on your phone, home carrier and selected provider, so check device compatibility, roaming conditions and data allowances before departure.

If your work depends on international services such as Google Workspace, Gmail, WhatsApp or other business apps, test them using the exact roaming, eSIM or network connection you plan to rely on. Service behavior can differ by network and connection method, so do not discover a connectivity problem just before an important meeting.

BEFORE YOU FLY

Do the digital setup while you still have time to fix it

Install and verify your payment app

Complete any required verification and add an eligible international bank card before departure.

Check your physical bank card

Confirm overseas transactions and contactless payments are enabled, and make sure your issuing bank will not unexpectedly reject the card.

Choose your mobile data plan

Decide between international roaming, a travel eSIM or a local SIM and test the business apps you expect to use.

Keep essential information offline

Save your hotel address, meeting details, organizer contacts and important travel documents where you can reach them without mobile data.

PRACTICAL BACKUP Do not make your entire trip depend on one app.

Payment platforms, supported cards, telecom products and app behavior can change. Recheck the services available to your account shortly before travel and keep at least one alternative payment method plus a backup way to access essential trip information.

NOVEMBER WEATHER

Shenzhen Weather in November What to Pack for APEC Week

Mid-November is typically much more comfortable than Shenzhen’s hot summer months, but conditions can still vary between daytime, evening and air-conditioned indoor spaces. Pack for flexibility rather than for extreme cold.

WHAT TO WEAR IN SHENZHEN IN NOVEMBER

Light layers work best for APEC week

Shenzhen’s 1991–2020 climate record places the average start of meteorological autumn around November 8. That makes the APEC dates of November 18–19 a period when milder autumn conditions are more typical than the city’s long summer heat.

For business travelers, a light jacket or outer layer is useful for cooler mornings and evenings, with breathable clothing underneath for warmer parts of the day. Business attire that can be layered is generally more practical than packing one heavy winter outfit.

Hotels, meeting rooms and transport can also feel cooler than outdoor conditions because of air conditioning. Comfortable walking shoes are useful for transfers and large venues, while a compact umbrella or light rain layer gives you a simple backup if conditions change.

PACKING BASICS

The figures above describe Shenzhen’s historical meteorological autumn and should not be read as a forecast for November 2026. They cannot tell you the temperature, rainfall or wind conditions on November 18–19. Check the latest Shenzhen forecast several days before departure, then adjust clothing, rain protection and transport plans accordingly. If weather could affect an important journey, review Getting Around Shenzhen . For other time-sensitive trip details, see Official APEC 2026 Updates .

THINGS TO DO IN SHENZHEN

What to See in Shenzhen Between APEC Meetings

If your APEC schedule leaves a few free hours, you do not need a full sightseeing day to experience Shenzhen. These three stops cover a central Futian viewpoint, Shenzhen Bay waterfront and local history in Nanshan. If time is limited, choose the option closest to your hotel or final meeting location.

Shenzhen Bay Park waterfront in Shenzhen
NANSHAN / SHENZHEN BAY ABOUT 2–3 HOURS

Shenzhen Bay Park

Shenzhen Bay Park follows roughly 13 kilometers of waterfront, with open bay views, walking areas and a quieter contrast to the surrounding commercial districts.

A useful option when your hotel or meetings are on the Nanshan or Shenzhen Bay side of the city and you have a longer break. Check Shenzhen weather in November before planning an extended outdoor visit.

Nantou Ancient Town in Nanshan, Shenzhen
NANSHAN HALF-DAY OPTION

Nantou Ancient Town

Built in 1394, Nantou offers a different perspective on Shenzhen through historic streets and architecture surrounded by the modern city.

A better choice when you want local history rather than another skyline or waterfront stop. If you are fitting the visit between meetings, use Getting Around Shenzhen to compare the journey with your available time.

OFFICIAL APEC 2026 UPDATES

What to Recheck Before You Travel

The main APEC 2026 Shenzhen dates are confirmed, but operational details can still change before November. Recheck the items below once your flights, hotel and event participation are finalized.

GUIDE STATUS Published by GoChinaQuest Team · Last reviewed: September 28, 2026

This guide separates stable planning information from details that should be verified again shortly before departure.

EVENT ACCESS

Final venue, credentials & arrival instructions

Confirm the exact meeting location, entrance, accreditation requirements and arrival time using the instructions provided by your organizer, delegation or event contact.

Do this before choosing a final door-to-door route, because different APEC-related meetings may use different locations and access procedures. Review the current APEC dates, schedule and venue status first.

CEO SUMMIT

Application, approval & registration status

If you have applied to attend the APEC CEO Summit, check your current application status and the latest organizer email before making plans that depend on attendance.

The official application page currently lists the application deadline as TBD. Submission alone does not confirm participation; approved applicants receive further registration and payment instructions. See Attendance & Registration for the participation overview.

CHINA ENTRY

Passport, visa, ABTC or transit eligibility

Recheck the entry route that applies to your exact passport, travel purpose and itinerary rather than relying on a rule you reviewed several months earlier.

Pay particular attention to passport validity, visa-free eligibility, ABTC conditions and any transit-policy requirements that apply to your trip. Return to China Entry, Visa & APEC Business Travel Card before departure.

FINAL 72 HOURS

Transport, security, weather & daily schedule

Recheck your airport or railway transfer, meeting route, current weather forecast and latest daily schedule shortly before departure and again before time-sensitive meetings.

Follow current organizer and Shenzhen transport notices if temporary traffic, security or access measures are announced for APEC week. Review Getting Around Shenzhen when finalizing important local journeys.

PLANNING PRINCIPLE

For a time-sensitive event such as APEC 2026, the newest first-party instructions should take priority over an older itinerary, search result or travel article.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

APEC 2026 Shenzhen Visitor FAQ

Quick answers to the practical questions international visitors are most likely to have when planning a Shenzhen trip around APEC 2026.

When is APEC 2026 in Shenzhen?

The 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting will be held in Shenzhen on November 18–19, 2026. The APEC CEO Summit is scheduled for November 17–18, and the ABAC Fourth Meeting for November 14–16. See the APEC 2026 dates and schedule for the full timeline.

Where will the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting be held?

Shenzhen is the confirmed host city. The current official APEC event listing identifies Shenzhen but does not publicly specify the exact Leaders’ Meeting building. Use final organizer, delegation or accreditation instructions for the confirmed venue and entrance.

Can tourists buy tickets to attend the Leaders’ Meeting?

No general-public ticketing route is listed in the current official APEC information reviewed for this guide. Accredited participants should follow the credential and access instructions issued by their organizer or delegation. See Attendance & Registration for the participation overview.

How can business visitors attend the APEC CEO Summit?

Business visitors should apply through the official CCPIT application channel. Applications are reviewed by the organizer, and submitting an application does not itself confirm attendance. Approved applicants receive further registration and payment instructions.

Do I need a visa to travel to Shenzhen for APEC 2026?

It depends on your passport, travel purpose and itinerary. Some eligible ordinary passport holders can use China’s 30-day visa-free arrangements, while other travelers may need a visa, qualify through a bilateral exemption or use another entry policy. Review China Entry, Visa & ABTC before choosing a specific entry route.

Can I use an APEC Business Travel Card to enter China?

Yes, if your valid ABTC includes China pre-clearance (CHN) and you travel with the associated valid passport. China’s currently published immigration guidance still states up to 60 days per entry. A move to a 90-day maximum stay was announced in August 2026, but the implementation date is determined separately, so recheck the current China rule before departure.

Can I use China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy?

Nationals of 57 eligible countries may use China’s 240-hour visa-free transit policy when all requirements are met. This includes entering through an eligible port, staying within the permitted area and holding a confirmed onward itinerary to a third country or region.

How do I get from Shenzhen Airport to central Shenzhen?

Metro Line 11 connects Airport (T3) with areas including Qianhaiwan, Nanshan, Houhai, Chegongmiao and Futian. A taxi or ride-hailing service may be more practical for luggage, late arrivals or hotels that require several transfers. See Getting to Shenzhen for the arrival options.

Where should I stay during APEC week?

Futian suits many central business itineraries, while Nanshan and Houhai work well for western Shenzhen and technology-sector meetings. Bao’an can suit airport-focused trips, while Luohu or Qianhai may make sense for specific cross-border or business schedules. Choose based on confirmed meetings rather than an assumed APEC venue. Compare the areas in Where to Stay in Shenzhen .

What is Shenzhen weather like in November?

Mid-November normally falls around Shenzhen’s milder autumn period, so light layers are usually more useful than heavy winter clothing. The 18.1°C figure used in this guide is the 1991–2020 average for Shenzhen’s meteorological autumn, not a November 2026 forecast. See Shenzhen Weather in November for packing guidance.

How can I travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen for APEC 2026?

One of the simplest options from central Hong Kong is high-speed rail from Hong Kong West Kowloon to Futian or Shenzhen North. Depending on your starting point and hotel, land crossings such as Shenzhen Bay, Huanggang, Luohu or Futian Checkpoint may also be practical. Compare the complete journey in Getting to Shenzhen .

Can I use an overseas bank card on Shenzhen Metro?

Yes. Shenzhen Metro now supports tap-and-go payment at all fare gates across the network with eligible contactless UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB cards. Your card must support contactless payment and the required settings must be enabled by your issuing bank. See Payments, SIM Cards & Connectivity for backup payment options.
